Pope Francis’ visit to the United States last week was historical, and something Father Tom Lilly of Anchorage says he’ll always remember.

Sen. Dan Sullivan invited Lilly to be his guest in Washington D.C. as the pope addressed Congress. Lilly called it an absolutely incredible opportunity.

He was back at Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church in South Anchorage on Thursday, and says he can’t stop thinking about the experience.

“I felt he was speaking directly to me and so what I took away is what I need to reflect on in my own life,” Lilly said.

He says he is sharing the pope’s message with his congregation in Anchorage.

He’s humbled he was able to attend and represent Alaska.
