Warm, rainy weather halts operations at Alyeska

Published: Updated:

Warm and rainy weather may put a damper on some skiers’ plans over the next few days. The Alyeska Resort announced suspension of all uphill loading of skiers and riders for two days while the snowpack is evaluated, with “the possibility of reopening midweek,” a statement from the company said.

“We are keeping an eye on how the combination of cooler temperatures and minimal precipitation next week will allow the snowpack to heal and we can evaluate options for operating next week,” said Brian Burnett, Acting Ski Area General Manager. “We are day-to-day for the next week and we will do everything we can to reopen and provide a great experience for our loyal customers.”

The tram will still be open for foot passengers from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, according to the resort.

Skiers and snowboarders with questions can call the Alyeska Resort Information Hotline for updates and opening times, or visit the resort’s website.
