A man accused of raping a 21-year-old female acquaintance in Greenwood Lake turned himself in to authorities Thursday.

The suspect, 36-year-old Pasquale Verrilli, is accused of assaulting the victim while she slept on June 11. Police said Verrilli had been with the victim and her friends earlier in the day when the group was boating and barbecuing on Cove Road. Verrilli is a Cove Road resident. Warwick police interviewed the victim and several witnesses before charging Verrilli with rape in the first degree.

Verrilli, who was previously convicted of assault, was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail. An order of protection was issued for the victim.
