FRANKLYWNOW - Boilermaker Weekend Forecast

Boilermaker Weekend Forecast

Published: Updated:
It is that time once again, the second weekend in July, Boilermaker Weekend. With many events taking place outside this weekend in addition to the Boilermaker, all eyes are on the forecast. Here is a breakdown for the next 3 days:

Friday

Starting off pleasant with some sunshine but very warm and humid across the region with temperatures already in the upper 70s. Showers across western NY will push into the region around 1PM. The risk of pop up showers and thunderstorms continue into the late afternoon and into the evening. Not everyone will see the rain but any thunderstorms that do develop could be on the strong side with gusty winds and heavy rain. There could be some minor urban flash flooding in flood prone areas. It will continue to be warm and humid with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Friday Night

The upper low slides into the northeast tonight, bringing more showers into the region. A few thunderstorms are possible during the overnight but due to the timing, the severe weather threat is low. It will be another air conditioning night with muggy and mild conditions. Overnight lows only drop into the upper 60s.

Saturday

A very humid day with dew points near 70 degrees (which is near tropical feeling). A few showers possible during the morning, with a better chance for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. With the extended cloud cover, temperatures will only be near 80 degrees but will feel warmer due to the high humidity.

Sunday

The area of low pressure slides to the east, dragging some cooler air into Central NY. Expect cloudy and less humid conditions for the start of the Boilermaker. Some light rain showers are possible throughout the race but it does not look to be a washout. Temperatures start out in the mid 60s. It will remain in the mid to upper 60s throughout the race under mostly cloudy skies. Clouds evenutally give way to some sunshine later in the afternoon, with highs in the low 70s. If it does rain during the Boilermaker, it will be the first time ever (in 39 years). That is quite the streak!
