Defense Expected to Call 6-10 Witnesses in Cal Harris Murder Trial

Cal Harris' defense team is expected to call 6-10 witnesses before wrapping up its case some time next week.

Harris is the Tioga County man charged with second degree murder for the death of his wife Michele, who disappeared in September of 2001.

The state rested its case this week after calling more than 40 witnesses. Two of Cal Harris' sisters-in-law took the stand this week testifying about threats Cal made to Michele prior to her disappearance.

The state's final witness was Michele's hair dresser Jerome Wilczynski, who said he overheard a phone call between Cal and Michele where Cal threatened to kill her if she didn't drop the impending divorce proceedings.

Harris family friend's Lynn Angulas and Todd Mansfield were the first two witnesses for the defense.

Both testified that Cal was openly upset in the days following Michele's disappearance.

Also this week Judge George Bartlett ruled that he would not allow testimony that the defense says would exonerate Cal and implicate two other men in Michele's disappearance.

Testimony will continue on Monday morning at 10 when Judge Bartlett will rule on whether or not Cal's daughter Jenna will be allowed to take the stand.
