A Changing of the Guard at the Civil Air Patrol

The Civil Air Patrol's Squadron 292 has been providing community service for over seventy years in the Southern Tier.
Its primary functions are providing emergency services, aerospace education and cadet programming. On Thursday night it was promotion night for the cadets of Squadron 292 as they move up to the next rank that they have earned. During the ceremony a change in command also took place as Colonel Richard Bohman stepped down after 8 years in the position. He's being replaced by First Lt. Frank Birt.
1st Lt. Frank Birt said, "It's a big responsibility, and I look forward to taking over the squadron. I was a cadet when I was a kid, and now a 19 year veteran of the Broome County Sheriffs office."
