Binghamton Farm Share Program Set to Begin it's Third Year in June

Fresh produce will once again be available to people in the City of Binghamton who live out of the reach of a grocery store.

The Binghamton Farm Share will start it's third year in June. Thanks to an $8,000 grant from the City, low- and moderate-income people will be able to get the produce for half price. The farm share partners with four local farms for it's produce and served about 200 people per week last year.

"You're getting a great product at a really low price by buying a box all at once. You get in you share each week more produce than you could for that same amount at the grocery store. And it's local and it's picked from the field the day before," said Amelia LoDolce, Health Initiatives Manager for the United Way of Broome County.

The Farm Share has a number of options which would allow you to get anywhere from five to 12 items per week. It will be in effect during the growing season, from June through November. For more information you can go to
