BU Men's Lax fights tough with #16 Towson but falls 9-8

VESTAL, N.Y. – Max Siskind scored a game-high four goals, as No. 16 Towson (6-3) held on for a 9-8 win over Binghamton (2-4) in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The game marked the Bearcats' second contest this season against a nationally-ranked squad.

Siskind scored two of his goals in the decisive fourth quarter. The game was deadlocked at 6-6 with eight minutes left in regulation but he scored twice in a span of 55 seconds to give the Tigers some breathing room.

The Bearcats pulled to within 8-7 with 4:51 left in regulation when senior midfielder Emmett O'Hara scored his second goal of the game. Joe Seider, however, answered for Towson with an unassisted goal with 2:54 left to go.

Binghamton refused to go quietly, trimming the deficit to 9-8 when redshirt freshman attack Sean Gilroy scored his third goal of the game with 29 seconds left in regulation. The Bearcats won the ensuing faceoff but were unable to net the equalizer.

The Bearcats had trailed 4-1 with 4:50 left in the first quarter but stormed back to tie the game at 5-5 heading into the half. Gilroy had two of his goals during that stretch while O'Hara and senior attack Tucker Nelson also scored for Binghamton.

Siskind broke the deadlock with 7:39 left in the third quarter but the Bearcats answered when junior attack Zach Scaduto tied the game at 6-6 with 1:32 remaining in the period. Scaduto finished the game with two goals and a pair of assists.

The Tigers finished the game with a 36-29 shot advantage. Both sophomore goalie Tanner Cosens and Tyler White of Towson finished with nine saves.

Towson also had a 12-9 advantage in faceoffs and a 23-22 edge in ground balls.

Ryan Drenner scored three goals and added an assist for Towson. O'Hara had an assist to go along with his two goals.

Binghamton heads to Drexel on Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. game.
