Chocolate Extravaganza to Benefit Children's Tumor Foundation

Students at All Saints Catholic School in Endicott learn a sweet lesson about the importance of community service.

Today the school's transitional kindergarten class hosted a Chocolate Extravaganza benefitting the Children's Tumor Foundation.

The cause has special significance for the class as one of its student's family members suffers from neuro-fibro-matosis a syndrome which causes tumors to form on different nerves in the body.

Even the school's youngest students recognized that today's festivities were about more than just chocolatey treats.

"To raise money for scientists and doctors," said All Saints student Hannah Reilly.

"Why's that important?"

"Because the people get sick and we're raising money for them so the doctors have enough stuff for them," said Reilly.

"If we can get them young and impart the feeling of giving and service to others young then it's going to stick with them for the remainder of their life," said All Saints teacher Dina Kalina.

Today all saints students also wore blue hoping to raise awareness for neuro-fibro-mitosis.
