Neighbors Testify in the Third Cal Harris Murder Trial

Posted On:
Neighbors of Cal Harris took the stand Tuesday as testimony continues in Harris' third murder trial. The Town of Spencer man is charged with the death of his wife Michele who disappeared in September 2001.

William Hurd, Eleanor Cobb and Kenneth Mulnix are all neighbors of Cal Harris on Hagadorn Hill Rd.

On Tuesday Cobb told jurors that she woke up in the early morning hours of September 12th, 2001 and heard a car door slam while Mulnix and Hurd both say they saw a vehicle at the end of the Harris driveway while headed to work that same morning.

All three neighbors testified that it was not normal for a car to be parked at the end of the driveway when the gate to the Harris property was open.

During testimony today James Morris, who detailed cars for Cal's auto dealership in 2001, said that Cal did bring his truck into be cleaned on the morning of September 12th but that it was not unusual, as Cal would typically have his vehicle cleaned 2-3 times a week.

Morris also says that he found nothing amiss or noteworthy in Cal's car that morning and that Cal did not given him any special instructions for that cleaning.

Testimony was cut short today when the defense objected to the prosecution's next witness, a New York State Trooper.

Defense attorney Donna Aldea argues that the trooper's testimony will be prejudicial and is irrelevant to the case while Martin says that it will demonstrates Cal's state of mind. Judge Bartlett will rule whether or not the testimony will be allowed when court reconvenes Wednesday morning.
