Bearcats stay the course for NCAAs

Bearcats senior heavyweight Tyler Deuel and 184 lb junior Jack McKeever both qualified for the NCAA wrestling tournament. Deuel is the 13th seed in the heavyweight division and McKeever is unseeded in his first tournament appearance. No Bearcat has ever finished higher than third, but they hope to change that this year. One thing they're not changing? Their approach to the match.

"Just gonna think of it as another match going out there," said McKeever. "I know the stakes are on the line, just gonna push even harder and try my best when I get out there."

"The message is always the same," said Head Coach Matt Dernlan. "We want to go have fun, we want to fight for our best seven minutes. We're not going to come up with our best secret weapon in the next couple days. The work we've done, we've been doing for the last 52 weeks so it's just trusting in our preparation and going out and executing every single time out there."

The NCAA Tournament is in St. Louis and runs Thursday through Saturday.
