Fifth Week of Testimony Begins in the Cal Harris Trial

Week five of testimony in the Cal Harris trial began today.
Harris is the Owego man on trial for a third time for the disappearance of his wife Michele in September of 2001.

New York State Police senior investigator Steven Anderson was called to the stand over a week ago. Anderson only gave about 30 minutes of testimony this morning because of a question that Barket asked him about photographs taken at the Harris household during the investigation into Michele's disappearance.
Barket was asking if any of the photos had been altered: alleging that the photos printed from the negatives are different in color than the ones that have been introduced into evidence by the prosecution.

Bartlett ruled that this issue is irrelevant to these proceedings, since he has already instructed the jury to disregard the color of the photographs.

Barket also questioned Anderson about his knowledge of blood spatter scenes.

Anderson testified that he had taken two courses about blood spatter--one in 1997, and one in 2000.

Barket then asked how many blood spatter scenes Anderson viewed between the time of the second course to the time of the investigation at the Harris household. Anderson says he had seen about a half dozen.

Barket spent the afternoon introducing dozens of photos into evidence.

Judge Bartlett instructed jurors that they disregard the color of the photos, and that the photos are only being admitted into evidence for their locations, shapes and sizes...with some that are 1:1 ratios with the different blood spatter locations.

Towards the end of the afternoon Barket had Anderson plot out a life size diagram of where the blood spatter was located in the garage...but the jury was released at that point.

Cross examination of investigator Anderson continues tomorrow morning.
