Students Participate in 2015 Southern Tier Scholastic Science Fair

Some middle and high school students are putting their science skills to the test.

SUNY Broome hosted the 13th annual Southern Tier Scholastic science fair.
Co-sponsored by Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, IBM and several other local organizations, the fair is geared toward encouraging students to pursue science and technology through projects.

Students conduct scientific investigations, displays, and write research papers all in good competition.

Southern Tier Science Fair Chair Jen Musa said, "We always have some new students but we always have returning students as well. We get to know the students and the parents and the teachers, and the projects are always great. It seems like every year I'm blown away by the great projects."

A few lucky students will move on to Syracuse next weekend for the next round of the Tri region science and engineering fair in Syracuse.
Winners could receive more than $1,000 in prizes.
