A local lunchtime favorite you all may know and love has closed it's doors.

As of Saturday Tom's Texas Hots is officially closed but the restaurant went out with a bang.

The restaurant held a customer appreciation day Saturday morning with free cake, coffee and one dollar hot dogs between 11 a.m 2 p.m.

Toms Texas Hots owner says his restaurant has faced some struggles, but he says he's thankful for all of his loyal customers.

"With current economic situations and this lovely construction we have going on here on the highway, it's put quite a damper on us and it's no longer financially feasible to keep going. It gets kind of frustrating but most of my employees are family and it's just been kind of a fun run while we were here and I met a lot of fun people for customers and had a good time with it," said Owner and Chef TJ Shaffer.

Tom's Texas Hots started in a bus on Court Street the business has been in the Binghamton area for more than 25 years.
