Testimony Continues in the Cal Harris Murder Trial

Blood stains found in the Harris household are the central focus of Thursday's testimony in the Cal Harris murder trial. Harris is the Town of Spencer man accused of killing his estranged wife Michele who disappeared in September 2001. Our Beth Russo was in the Cchoharie court room has more.

Forensic Investigator Steven Andersen spent the entire day on the stand as district attorney Kirk Martin continued to question him about his search of the Harris household after Michele's disappearance.
Andersen says that during his search he found stains inside the home near and on the door leading to the garage.
According to Andersen it wasn't until after preliminary testing revealed that those stains were blood that the Harris home was considered a crime scene.
Jurors were shown distant photos of the blood staining in the home but the defense objected to close up shots of blood traces saying that they did not accurately depict the color of the stains.
Judge George Bartlett ultimately allowed the photos in to evidence but instructed jurors that they could not speculate about the age of the blood based on the coloring in the photos.
He told jurors that they were only to observe the size, shape and location of the stains.
Bartlett Added that there is no reliable scientific evidence that can date blood based on its coloring.
Andersen also testified about staining on the floor of the Harris garage. Testimony has not yet revealed whether the stains in the garage were in fact blood.
Earlier on Thursday judge Bartlett told the defense and prosecution that he would no longer allow long winded legal arguments and that all future mistrial motions will be heard at the end of the day.
Direct examination of Andersen will continue when court resumes on Monday morning at 9:15.
