Reed Introduces New Bill That Would Compensate Landowners

Congressman Tom Reed has introduced a bill that would compensate landowners for the taking of property rights.
This comes in the wake of New York State banning fracking in December.
The bill is called the "Defense of Property Rights Act".
The bill calls for compensation if the government action reduces the value of the land by either 20% of it's value or $20,000, whichever is lesser.
Reed took a member of the Joint Landowners Coalition of New York as his guest to the State of the Union last week.
Reed introduced the legislation to the judiciary committee.
