Binghamton City Council Continues to work on Noise Ordinance Law

Binghamton City Council also discussed unfinished business tonight, as council members continued to talk about updating the city's noise ordinance law.

Council members highlighted two big changes they say will make a big difference: 1) to make it clear when you need to have a noise permit, and 2) taking out references to the noise decibel meter--and instead relying on the judgment of police rather than the meter.

"Every year, March-April time frame we start to hear from businesses that are requesting to use noise permits to use amplification for events and musical venues. We need to make sure this ordinance is cleaned up and stream lined in a way that will be helpful for them in their business," said Rennia.

Rennia says she hopes to get the noise ordinance passed by February.
