Green Jobs to the Southern Tier

Could green jobs and farm preservation be the economic future of the Southern Tier?

During tomorrow's "State of the State" address, Governor Cuomo will announce a 20 million dollar competitive fund designed to bring green jobs to the Southern Tier.

In addition to the green jobs, the governor will also announce 50 million dollars of funding aimed at preserving farmlands in the southern tier and Hudson Valley.

Many feel this could be the boost the Southern Tier economy needs.

"Communities that have hitched their wagon to green jobs, done it smart with the resources necessary to important elements... have thrived in ways that communities that have not, have not. I would also say that these are jobs that have gone on for a long time," says Adam Flint.

If approved by the legislature the Competitive Green Jobs Fund will be based on the Smaller Business Competition that was held in Buffalo in 2014.
