Local Woman Pleads Guilty to Grand Larceny

A Binghamton woman has plead guilty to stealing more than $50,000 from a company she was working for for almost five years.

Tuesday, in Broome County court, 48-year-old Mary Ellen Shilling plead guilty to grand larceny. Shilling admitted to stealing the $50,000 dollars in funds from May 1, 2008 to October 16, 2013 from the checking account belonging to Oral Surgery Associations of the Southern Tier. At the time she was working as an office manager and bookkeeper.

Shilling will be sentenced on April 20th to state prison for any amount of time between 2 1/3 to 7 years. She will be ordered to pay over $164,000 upon sentencing. If she can pay a substantial amount, according to District Attorney Gerald Mollen the court may consider a lesser sentence.
