Police find Mushrooms, Cocaine, Meth in Loud Exhaust Stop

A loud exhaust led to a narcotics arrest on Upper Front St. in the Town of Chenango early Thursday morning.

A Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the area pulled over a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier for a loud exhaust violation around 1:57 a.m. Thursday. After speaking with the driver and the passenger, the Deputy notices a hypodermic needle in plain sight in the passenger’s purse.

The passenger tried to hide the needle when questioned about it.

The passenger also provided the deputy with her sister’s name instead of her real name in order to hide the fact that she a warrant for her arrest in another New York county.

The passenger was by another deputy from prior encounters and identified her as Melinda M. Sutton.

Sutton was found to be in possession of psilocybin mushrooms, cocaine, methamphetamine, and two different prescription pills that were controlled substances. She was arrested without incident and was later arraigned in the Town of Chenango Court. She is being held at the Broome County Correctional Facility without bail.
