Since August, more than 20 Habitat for Humanity volunteers have been constructing a single-family home on the corner of Floral and Willow Ave in Johnson City.
On Wednesday morning, a donation gave them a helping hand in their building. EXIT Realty presented a check of $6,500 to the organization. The money from this donation will go towards building materials for the project. According to Habitat for Humanity, material costs for the house are about $80,000.
“This check will definitely pay for the windows. So literally this check will turn into building materials very soon, probably within the next weeks or days,” said Broome County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Amy Winans.
The home is expected to be complete by summer 2016. Habitat for Humanity has not found a family to live in it yet. For information on how to apply, you can visit www.broomehabitat.org.
