Teens Learn About Driving Safety

Over 750 High School Students from Broome County flocked to Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton today for Teen Traffic Safety day.

The event, sponsored by State Farm and put together by the STOP DWI Program and the Broome County Traffic Safety Program, helps students learn about the dangers of Drunk driving and the importance of traffic safety through hands on experiences, like games such as the seat belt race, which times teams of students running into a car and putting on their seat belts.

Students had the opportunity to win prizes for coming in first against their classmates, while also learning valuable lessons about driver safety.

The event also had live demonstrations from EMTs on the possible injuries that occur from Drunk And Distracted Driving accidents.

Participating School Districts will also have the chance to register for Celebrate My Drive, through State Farm, for a chance to win up to $100,000 for their school district.
