Students Do Good Deeds to Support Victims in Israel

In Israel, new security measures are being taken with its continuing violence, often involving knife attacks. Three more Israelis and one Palestinian were reported dead last night.

Students at Binghamton University gathered Wednesday afternoon to show support and to raise awareness of the recent wave of terror in Israel. Rabi Levi Slonin says the Jewish way to respond to darkness is by adding more light to the world. Students on campus made cards to send to victims' families, took a minute to pray, and donated to charity.

Rabi Levi Slonin said, " Encouraging people to just add in general good deeds. We believe that a good deed that's done here in Binghamton can have a practical impact and strengthen our brothers and sisters that are in Israel."
BU Student, Ruthie Freilich said, "I see terrible things happening and I'm here sheltered, going to class every day and I wake up in the morning not worrying, I'm not scared fearing for my life, the least I can do is be out here right now doing good deeds, having other students do good deeds in honor of these people."

The violence in Israel is raising fears of a new Intifada or Palestinian revolt.
That is one reason all money donated at Wednesday's event is going to a relief fund in Israel.
