Bertuzzi brings experience to young B-Sens

Posted On:
The Binghamton Senators are one of the youngest teams in the AHL averaging 24.8 years old, without factoring newly signed Todd Bertuzzi into the mix. Bertuzzi turns 40 on February 2nd, on that day, the average age of the B-Sens will be 25.5. While it may seem like a head scratcher to add a 20-year NHL veteran to the AHL roster, Bertuzzi doesn't seem to have lost a step and brings a lot of experience.

As B-Sens captain Aaron Johnson says, Bertuzzi has over 1,000 games played in the NHL and with many young prospects looking to make their mark on the game, having that veteran knowledge on and off the ice is a great help. For Shane Prince, who has been sharing a line with the veteran winger for the first two days of his tenure with the team, it's a little daunting to play alongside a he grew up watching. However, Prince is excited to take advantage of the opportunity and soak in as much as he can from Bertuzzi.

Bertuzzi has never played a game in the AHL. That will likely change on Friday as the B-Sens host Syracuse.
