Police: Danby Standoff Subject Killed Himself

Authorities say the man at the center of a standoff with police last week in the town of danby killed himself.

This was one of the details revealed by the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office today. It determined that 36-year-old David Cady had multiple firearms and ammunition, and had been travelling to Pennsylvania to purchase the ammunition in preparation for a possible stand-off with police.

The stand-off began when Cady fired at police last Tuesday while they attempted to serve him a felony DWI arrest warrant...and according to outside sources Cady reportedly had said that he was not willing to go back to jail.

Officers tried communicating with Cady via landline, cell phone and other law enforcement equipment, but by the time police entered the residence around 8 am January 2nd, Cady was found dead inside. A preliminary autopsy at Lourdes determined Cady's death to be the result of a single, self inflicted gunshot wound.
