A car fire next to the Albemarle County Office Building forced employees to evacuate this morning.

Around 8:30 a.m. firefighters were called to the building on Ridge McIntire Road. A driver's education car from the school division was being fueled by an instructor at the gas pump behind the building when a fire was ignited. The vehicle was engulfed in flames and was destroyed.

Workers were evacuated from the building for about 30 minutes as city fire crews put out the blaze. There were no injuries and the gas pump canopy and building were not damaged.

No word on what sparked the blaze; the exact cause is under investigation.
