According to Alaska State Troopers, at 9:13 a.m. troopers received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Bogard Road near the intersection with San Diego Road.

AST’s release states 22-year-old William L. Fletcher was driving east in a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta when he swerved into the opposite lane and collided with 46-year-old Jeffrey L. Noffke’s 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.

Noffke had minor injuries from the crash and was released at the scene. However, Fletcher’s injuries were far more serious. He was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Troopers said Fletcher’s vehicle was reported for dangerous driving shortly before the collision. Both drivers appeared to have been wearing their seat belts.
