Wet weather driving Anchorage potholes

Published: Updated:

Our recent wet weather is keeping Anchorage street maintenance crews busy filling potholes.

Spring and fall are traditionally the time that potholes appear, according to Street Maintenance Supervisor Eric Hodgson. But Hodgson said this year they seem to be worse than usual. More than 250 potholes have been reported in just the last few weeks.

Hodgson said they need the public’s help to find potholes and fix them fast.

“We can’t be everywhere at the same time, so we rely on the public to call in the potholes so we get our list generated so we can get out there within the 24-hour period,” Hodgson explained.

Hodgson said they have crews working days, nights and weekends on pothole repair. He encourages the public to call the pothole hotline, 907-343-MEND (6363).
