Published: Updated:

The Anchorage Police Department is investigating a shooting incident after a single shot was fired through the wall of a South Anchorage church early Wednesday morning.

Police were notified of the shooting by a male and a female just after 1 a.m. and responded to the Cornerstone Church of God on Brayton Drive.

“The couple reported they heard something hit the building and when they went to see what it was, there was a bullet on the floor and a hole in the wall,” said APD spokeswoman Jennifer Castro in an email.

Castro said the shot appeared to come from the south side of the building, from the direction of Elcadore Drive. Officers investigated the area but did not find anything suspicious, she said.

Police currently have no information regarding any suspects involved.
