In light of Veterans Day, this week’s segment saluted the men and women past and present who have fought for their country.

Cari-Ann Ketteling with the Alaska Process Industry Careers Consortium (APICC) and Maj. Raul Rovira talked about some ways veterans and those ready to transition out of the military can use APICC and its partner organizations for help.

“Now that I’m transitioning, I’m looking into a career in project management with a focus in community development,” said Rovira, who came to Alaska in 2008 and is preparing to retire from the military. “I’ve been very active with networking — we think that’s important to be able to connect with professionals out there.”

APICC is starting a free mentor program that matches people up with a career guide.

“We’re going to be starting a new program called ‘mentoring match-ups’ where we can help the military people find industry people that will be able to mentor them in to their new job,” Ketteling said.
