It’s the business of finding a job — local employment matchmakers do background checks and fit the skills of people looking for work to those in-demand jobs.

Joy Bunde with Personnel Plus says her company connects people with prospective employers. They place people in all types positions including chefs, executives, even floral designers. There are a few steps to take to land that dream job, Bunde said.

“Invest in your personal development,” she said. “Know your strengths and weaknesses also consider investing in a career coach. I personally used one when I was looking for a career out of state and I went into that interview knowing every question and how to phrase it properly where it put me in the best light.”

The business works hand-in-hand with Alaska Process Industry Careers Consortium (APICC) to find out which fields need skilled workers. Bunde said the most in-demand job sectors right now are in tourism, medical technicians, IT specialists and sales.
