Warwick police increase patrols as school year closes

Published: Updated:

As the school year draws to a close, police are stepping up patrols at Warwick Valley High School to prevent pranks.

This time last year, there were several pranks at Hudson Valley high schools. The Warwick school saw its share of snakes and water balloons filled with mysterious substances. Videos of pranks often turn up on the popular Web site Youtube.com.

Police presence is more visible at the Warwick school. Authorities said they are counting on school resource officers, who already have established relationships with students.

Some parents agree that more police officers were needed on campus. "It concerns me. My daughter got hit in the eye with an apple and it caused her eye to be blurry," one parent said.
