Pregnant woman wrecks car; boyfriend ejected

Published: Updated:

A pregnant woman was trapped inside an SUV after she flipped the vehicle in Monroe Monday, ejecting her boyfriend from the wreck.

Police say it appears 19-year-old Danielle Rabbitt, of Chester, was speeding on Gilbert Street when she lost control of the SUV while trying to avoid a car. Rabbitt overcorrected, sending the vehicle into a utility pole, according to police. The SUV flipped on its roof.

Witness Myra Munoz rushed to help the woman who was screaming about her baby. "I just ran when I heard 'baby.' I have kids so my first reaction was just to go help her," Munoz said.

Authorities said mother and child checked out fine after Rabbitt was pulled from the wreck. Paramedics reported the baby was still moving. However, Rabbitt's passenger and boyfriend, 23-year-old Ryan Sailer, of Harriman, was flown by chopper to Westchester Medical Center.

There is no word on his condition.
