Utica, N.Y. - From the more than 18,000 runners who finished the Boilermaker to the many more thousands who lined the streets of Utica supporting them, the 2016 version of the Utica Boilermaker was a huge success.

With more than 14,000 finishing the 15-K and more than 4,000 finishing the 5-K, maybe the biggest applause goes to the weather.

Some rain was seen at the beginning of the race and near the end of the race, but it wasn't much at all.

Spectators didn't get soaked and were very glad of that.

Kathleen Delmonico of Yorkville was cheering loudly along Champlin Ave..

Delmonico says she and others who come out to support the runners feel like they're a big part of this event, "I get goosebumps.  They say if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter and that's what I am today."

The Post Race Party at the F.X. Matt Brewery was packed with well over 20,000 people.

Plenty of live entertainment kept everyone enthused long after the race was over.

Erin Fish of Utica was in the middle of the mass of people at the brewery, "This is fantastic.  The weather, the people, this is incredible.  This is a great time, this is such a community event that you can't beat.  There's nothing like this anywhere else.

Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol was at the Post Race Party in uniform and with all the talk surrounding security leading up to the race, he says he's glad everything went off without a hitch but says you can never be too prepared, "Very well coordinated security plan.  Everyone obviously is having a great time, the race was a success, and like I said, I couldn't be more proud of law enforcement in this area once again coming together, working together to ensure everyone has a safe day."
