The Lesbian and Gay Family Building Project is helping the LGBTQ - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning- community build and sustain healthy families around New York State.

The 2015 Pride and Joy Families Weekend Conference continued today. The goal of the event is to increase LGBTQ families visibility in the area and create a strong sense of community.

160 children and adults within the community came out to enjoy the conference.

The conference included a variety of family activities and educational programs.

A Thousand Moms Executive Director Fred Elia said, "We're here to do a workshop on foster care and adoption. So far the families here today, were going to help them understand that many many child welfare organizations would love to have them be foster or adoptive parents."

LGBT Project Director Claudia Stallman said, "What's really nice about the conference is that we can do some educational work for health and human service providers in the community, as well as for the families themselves."

Conference activities continue tomorrow at the Holiday Inn Arena.

Intergenerational activities include, parent-child yoga, nutrition workshops and family portrait opportunities.
