Town of Chenango Receives Money To Protect Against Future Flooding

Published:
The Town of Chenango is getting money to boost it's infrastructure in an effort to protect against future flooding.

The Governor's Office of Storm Recovery announced Chenango will receive three million dollars. The town's Supervisor says it will use the money to raise sewer and pump stations, add storm drains along Wallace Road, and possibly add a generator to Town Hall so that it can be used as a Command Center.

Town of Chenango Supervisor Hal Snopek said, "It is going to relieve us from our burden. To be able to go out now and do smaller projects that we couldn't afford if this didn't come along."

Wallace Road in the Town of Chenango had more than 50 homes with basements that were flooded in 2006 and 2011.
