DEC to Gather Input on the Proposed Remedy of Contamination at the Former IBM

Published:
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has scheduled a public meeting to gather input about the proposed remedy to address contamination at the former IBM facility in Endicott.

DEC investigations revealed that manufacturing operations at the plant resulted in contaminated groundwater and spread to areas off-site. The DEC says an interim remedial action plan that includes extracting contaminated ground water and injecting clean water into the upper aquifer has been in place and been effective.

The public meeting is scheduled for Thursday March 5th at 6 p.m. at the George F. Johnson library in Endicott. The DEC is also accepting written comments about the proposed plan.
