Volunteer Firefighter Dies in Accident in Delaware County

A dairy farmer and volunteer fire fighter in Delhi was struck and killed by a tree he was felling for firewood Wednesday afternoon.
70-year-old Ralph Hunt was discovered at the top of a wooded hillside on his property off Country Route 14 by members of the fire department. His wife called the department after Hunt failed to return for lunch after saying we was going to the woods to gather more firewood. Hunt was with the Delhi Fire Department since 1982 and served as it's Chief from 1989-1990. In 1987 he was named Firefighter of the Year.
