American Legion Holds Dog Trivia Night to Benefit Humane Society

Published:
Helping animals by answering some trivia questions...that was the idea of Top Dog Trivia Night at the American Legion American Legion Post 89 in Vestal.

The trivia night was held as part of the Humane Society's fundraising initiative to help shelter animals with daily care, medical needs and to prepare them for adoption.

The event was sold out with more than 150 people attending.
Fundraising coordinators say the shelter receives no government funding so events like this one is crucial for caring for the animals.

Kim Broderick, Fundraising Coordinator of Humane Society said, "What we bring in from the adoption fees, no where near covers what we get to take care for them. So events like this take care of what doesn't get covered by the adoption fees."

Coordinators say Saturday's event raised nearly $3,000.
The Humane Society will hold a Casino night in March at the Knights of Columbus.
