Fire Damages Candor Highway Department Building

Published:
A fire broke out around 3:45 this Monday afternoon at the Candor Highway Department building.

Candor Fire Department officials say that the fire was under control by 4:45, and nobody was injured or in the building at the time the fire broke out.

Officials say the truck bay area was completely damaged, but that the service area and offices were undamaged because of a fire wall.

Unfortunately, four ten wheeler dump trucks and a front end loader were lost in the blaze.

One neighbor says he looked out of his window to see the smoke coming out of the building.

Tom Zacharias, Neighbor, said: "Shocked more than anything else. They just built this. They just got done in November. They redid this whole building, it's sad because they just got done with it in November. It's all brand new."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
