Hundreds Fish in Crappie Derby

Published:
A little ice never stopped some fishing!
Hundreds of ice fishermen came out to this year's "almost-annual" Crappie Derby despite the low temperatures and the 15 inches of ice on Whitney Point lake.
This was the 41st derby at Dorchester Park in Whitney Point and the prize for the top fish was expected to be $5,000.

Prizes were handed out every 15 minutes for the longest white crappie reeled in.
Not a fisher? Not a problem! The park also created a separate area for open ice-skating.
