VESTAL, N.Y. – Freshman point guard Jasmine Sina has been named the America East Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row. It also represents the fifth time this season she has earned the conference's weekly accolade.

Sina is the second player in Binghamton history to be named the conference's Rookie of the Week a program-best five times. Jasbriell Swain, who was named the 2011 America East Rookie of the Year, was the first such player.

This past week, Sina averaged 18.0 points in a pair of games. She tied for the team-lead with 14 points against Hartford on Feb. 4 and followed up with a game-high 22 points against Vermont on Saturday. In the process, she recorded her fifth game this season with at least 20 points.

For the season, Sina is now averaging a team-high 14.9 points per game, which ranks fourth in the America East. She remains on track for the highest rookie scoring average during the Binghamton program's 13-year NCAA Division I era. Jen Blues averaged 11.3 points during the 2002-03 campaign. In addition, Sina is currently ranked No. 11 in the nation with 2.96 three-point field goals per game.

With five games left in the regular season, Sina's season scoring average is the 14th-highest in Binghamton program history. It is the third-best average during the program's NCAA Division I era, trailing only Sarah Cartmill (18.4 ppg in 2001-02) and current Bearcat assistant coach Leah Truncale (15.3 ppg the same year).

Through 13 weeks this season, Binghamton has earned the America East Rookie of the Week award eight times. In addition to Sina also being honored on Dec. 1, Dec. 29, Jan. 5 and last week, freshman guard Imani Watkins has been chosen Nov. 17, Nov. 24 and Dec. 22. Watkins currently ranks eighth in the America East with 14.0 points per game.

Binghamton heads to defending America East champion Albany for a noon game on Wednesday.
