VESTAL, N.Y. – Amber Bepko finished with a game-high 18 points, leading Hartford (14-12, 7-3 AE) to a 51-46 victory over Binghamton (4-19, 2-9 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Wednesday evening at the Events Center.

Bepko, who leads the America East with 3.1 three-point field goals per game, drained five of her shots from beyond the three-point arc. She also finished with six rebounds.

Freshman point guard Jasmine Sina, who is second in the conference with 2.9 three-point field goals per game, made three of her three-point attempts. She tied junior guard Kim Albrecht for the team lead with 14 points.

Sina scored 10 of her points during an 11-0 Bearcat run that tied the game at 16-16 with 4:53 left in the first half. The Hawks regrouped, however, and took a 24-21 lead at the break. Shanise Bultron hit a pair of three-point field goals during that stretch.

The Bearcats wouldn't go away quietly in the second half, as a three pointer by freshman guard Imani Watkins tied the score at 39-39 with 10:39 left in regulation. Hartford answered, however, by scoring the next six points in a stretch of 1:25. Bepko had four of those points.

Albrecht pulled the Bearcats to within 47-46 on a three pointer with 2:02 left to go. Neither team scored again until Deana Mayza hit a layup with 38 seconds left to go. Bepko then iced the game on a pair of three throws with six seconds left.

Cherelle Moore added 13 points for the Hawks.

Junior forward Sherae Swinson finished with nine points, nine rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Watkins added eight points, six rebounds and four assists.

Binghamton heads to Vermont on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game.

NOTES: Sina, who is averaging a team-best 14.6 points per game, has now reached double figures in scoring a team-best eight consecutive games … Swinson now has 893 career points. She is seven points away from 900 points, a feat only 17 other players in program history have attained.
