Binghamton Women's Hoops fall to UMass-Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. – Shannon Samuels and Lindsey Doucette each scored a game-high 16 points, leading UMass Lowell (9-16, 3-6 AE) to a 62-42 win over Binghamton (4-18, 3-9 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Sunday afternoon at the Costello Center. The game marked the first contest in the second half of conference play this year.

The River Hawks scored 10 unanswered points to take a 10-2 lead just 4:36 into the game. The Bearcats drew to within 17-16 on a layup by senior forward Sherae Swinson with 6:24 left in the first half.

In the final six minutes of the first half, the River Hawks outscored Binghamton 16-2 to take a 33-18 lead. Brianna Rudolph had seven points during that stretch.

The River Hawks picked up where they left off in the first seven minutes of the second half, going up 50-25. Binghamton got to within 62-45 on a layup by freshman guard Imani Watkins with 3:49 left to go.

Freshman point guard Jasmine Sina and junior guard Kim Albrecht each netted a team-high 14 points. Albrecht added seven rebounds while Watkins finished with a team-high six assists.

Jasmine McRoy added 10 points for UMass Lowell.

Binghamton returns home to face Hartford on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
