Veteran's Housing Unit Gets Facelift

Published:
A Binghamton housing unit for veterans is in the process of getting a the facelift.

The Volunteers of America Veteran Housing Program in Binghamton received a $60,000 dollar grant from The Home Depot foundation.

That money will be used to renovate five bedrooms, the common area, and the bathroom. Members from The Home Depot foundation helped paint some of the rooms.

"Without the generosity of the Home Depot Foundation we would not be able to provide really any of the renovations really. We could do some paint that's not an expensive project but we would never be able to completely renovate the bathrooms on our own limited budget. We wouldn't be able to completely renovate the rooms," said Vice President of Housing and Services LIsa Whitney.

The bathroom will receive a wheelchair accessible ramp, new tile walls and floor. Construction on the project will be completed by the second week of march for their unveiling ceremony.
