Students in a Public Relations Class at SUNY Broome had an opportunity to put their skills to the test on Wednesday.

They had just two and a half weeks to put a fundraiser together, including everything from writing the press release to inviting the participants. So they came up with a unique competition called "Clash of the Soup'er Heroes. A competition to see who had the best Soup in town. Ten organizations stepped up to the plate and the proceeds from the event benefited Mom's House.

"The students decided to choose Mom's House because its a not for profit that helps single parents whether its high school or college, so the students said we can help out our community and help our fellow students who might be here on campus," said Tim Skinner, SUNY Broome.

"We actually had only 2 weeks and zero dollars. So everybody who's here donated their time and their soup. So everything was a donation," said Anayah Boyer, Student.

The winner was Calaboose Grill and the students say they raised about $1,200 for Mom's House.
