Local Anti-Fracking Activists Thank Governor Cuomo in Albany

Published:
One major issue not a part of Wednesday's State of the State speech - fracking. The governor settled that issue for the time being when his administration banned the drilling practice in December.

Wednesday morning a number of anti-fracking activists from Citizen Action of New York made their way to Albany to thank the governor and his administration for that decision.

"Fracking posed such a threat to our air, water, and our health. We now can move forward without that cloud and work toward a renewable energy future which really is possible here in our state," said Isaac Silberman-Gorn of Citizen Action.

A poll released Tuesday by the Siena Research Institute showed 57 percent of voters back Cuomo's ban on fracking in New York with 23 opposed and 20 percent saying they either have no opinion or not enough information.
