Singing, marching and praying all in honor of one man who continues to represent a dream.

Claire Mirat of Binghamton says, "What Dr.King has done is for us all. I wouldn't be able to vote or even drink in the same water fountain as another white person."

Monday night more than a hundred Binghamton residents joined the millions across the country showing their appreciation for Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.

Rev. Paul Gordon Carter says, "We come out to honor him and to let the country know that we still hold him in high esteem for all that he did."

In light of recent incidents in Missouri and right here in New York, many say that today is not just about celebrating the life and achievements of Dr.King but also about continuing to work towards equality.

Claudia Clarke of the Broome County MLK Commission says," In order for us to address this collectively we have to all come together and see it as a problem and we have to really address it together in order to come up with a solution."

Carter says, "It's not just that black lives matter, but black lives matter because all life matters."

Those at Monday night's celebration say that it will take more open minded people like Dr.King to make the dream a reality.

Mirat says," What Dr. King did, it shaped us all as people and as a nation."
