Attorney Ron Benjamin Speaks After Inmate Death

Published:
Attorney Ron Benjamin also did speak out about the inmate who was found dead on the floor of his cell this past Wednesday.

Benjamin says the incident involved an overdose of some sort, but the investigation is still pending. Broome County Sheriff's Office officials says officers were making their count tour when they found 35-year-old Salladin Barton unresponsive.
The staff began performing CPR before Barton was transported to Wilson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Barton was found in his cell just 20 minutes after he had returned contacting the public defender's office. Barton also had visitors earlier that morning.

Barton has been in jail since June of 2013, for violating probation, grand larceny and robbery. An autopsy was performed but no cause of death has officially been determined.
