BU Women's Hoops dropped by Wildcats 73-68

DURHAM, N.H. – Sarah-Marie Frankenberger hit the go-ahead three-point field goal with 59 seconds left in regulation as New Hampshire (12-5, 4-1 AE) held off Binghamton (4-14, 2-3 AE) 73-68 in an America East women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Lundholm Gym. The game marked the first of three straight road contests for the Bearcats.

Binghamton had rallied from a 10-point deficit to tie the game at 64-64 with 1:18 left in regulation. Junior forward Kim Albrecht scored five points in a span of five seconds to pull the Bearcats to within 64-62 with 2:13 remaining. Senior forward Sherae Swinson, who finished with a game-high 21 points, then tied the game on a layup.

The Wildcats, however, regained control of the game following Frankenberger's three point-field goal. They were 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the final 35 seconds to seal the victory.Frankenberger made the final two free throw attempts during that strech.

Carlie Pogue finished with 17 points and a game-high 17 rebounds in the winning effort. Elizabeth Belanger added 16 points while Kaylee Kilpatrick chipped in 13 points.

Freshman point guard Jasmine Sina finished with 20 points, marking the third time this season that a pair of Binghamton players have scored at least 20 points in the same game.

The lead switched hands six times in the opening eight minutes of play. Albrecht's jumper with 11:50 left in the first half gave the Bearcats a 15-14 lead.

From there, however, New Hampshire went on a 14-2 run to go up 28-17 with 4:50 remaining in the first half. Belanger led the Wildcats with six points during that stretch.

The Bearcats got to within 34-27 at the half and then scored the first four points of the second half. Swinson punctuated the run on a layup with 19:02 left in regulation.

Sina pulled Binghamton to within 46-45 on a three-point field goal with 11:39 left in regulation. New Hampshire, however, responded with a 15-6 run to go up 61-51 with 6:09 remaining.

That set the stage for a furious final six minutes of play.

Freshman guard Imani Watkins added 12 points, a career-high eight assists and tied a career high with five steals.

New Hampshire finished with a commanding 45-25 rebounding advantage. Eighteen of those rebounds came off the offensive board.

Both teams were impressive at the free throw line. The Bearcats were 19-of-21 (90.5 percent) while the Wildcats were 17-of-18 (94.4 percent).

The Bearcats now head to Maine for a 3:30 p.m. game on Monday.
